The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, part of a top 10 U.S. public university, is recognized by its peers as one of the premier programs in the country and is driving innovation and engagement across communication disciplines. The college’s strength is drawn from both academic rigor and experiential learning. The Ph.D. program is one of the largest in the country, taught by world-renowned faculty. More than 300 students engage in graduate and advanced studies, including more than 70 doctoral students, joining more than 2,500 undergraduates. The College includes 68 full-time faculty members, of which 15 are new positions as of fall 2018, who teach, conduct research, and provide service. The College includes seven broadcast and digital media properties, the Joseph L. Brechner Center for Freedom of Information and the nation’s only STEM Translational Communication Center and Center for Public Interest Communications. Admission Requirements
- GRE: 550/156, Verbal, 550/146 Quantitative preferred
- TOEFL: minimum 90 on exam, 26 on speaking portion
- IELTS: minimum of 8 on exam and 8 on speaking portion
- International applicants must also take the speaking portion of the TOEFL iBT and score a 26 or higher. The requirement applies only to applicants from countries in which English is not the official language and includes U.S. territories and protectorates where English is not the primary language.
