Welcome to the July 2024 edition of spectra magazine.
Full disclosure: we're announcing the release a few days into August, but that's only because we had a few issues to iron out and we wanted to make sure you read the best possible version of spectra possible.
This issue - all about communication research - holds true to our original goal for the relaunch of the magazine: make this magazine not only about membership but by membership as much as possible.
You'll see that by scanning our feature articles. Last quarter, staff in the National Office wrote all three. This month? Two of the three are written not only by members, but international members and undergraduate communication scholars! I'm really encouraged by the direction we're moving spectra in, and hope to continue that work in upcoming issues.
Next quarter's theme will be AI and Communication, and we’re looking for pitches and articles relevant to the theme. If you’re interested in writing for the magazine on this or another topic germane to the field, please reach out at spectra@natcom.org.
I really hope that you find something in these words that captures your attention, generates discussion, and captures a piece of the field as accurately as language allows.
Enjoy the read!
